Hi my name is Jessalyn, hairstylist and owner of Bold Hearts Studio. Before opening my own salon I have worked for I a few different salons with different services menus. The most eye opening for me was a la carte because to gloss a client's hair after lightening you needed to sell it to them. This didn’t make sense to me because in order to complete a lightening service a gloss is needed to create the desired color. Which bring me to reason number one.
1.) A Gloss Is Needed To Create The Desired Color.
When lightening your hair the first step is to get your hair to the desired lightness. Then a gloss is needed to add the desired color. Glosses are used to add or cancel out colors.
2.) After Lightening The Hair Cuticle Needs To Be Closed Back Down.
Lightening hair opens up the hair cuticles to remove pigment which makes the hair lighter. After the cuticle needs to be closed back down to finish the color. A gloss will refill the hair with pigment of the desired color which will close the cuticle back down and create beautiful shine. If the cuticle is left open it is fragile and prone to breakage.
3.) Healthy Shiny Hair.
Glosses have a lot of conditioning agents that will make the hair soft and shiny.

I hope you found this post helpful and if you're in the Rollinsford, NH area I would love to be your hairstylist. Click here to fill out a new guest color consult form.
