frizzy hair

Frizz is caused by two things, lack of moisture in the hair and humidity. The amount of frizz will vary depending on your hair's texture and density. The coarser and curlier your hair is the more prone your hair is to frizz. This is because these hair textures and densities have a harder time holding moisture. Read on for product recommendations and tips to keep your hair frizz free.

Tip # 1 - Get Rid Of Split Ends

Split ends and frizz visual can look similar which is why they get mixed up all the time. If your hair easily tangles and looks and feels dry at the ends, then you have split ends. If you are having trouble getting your hair to lay flat, then you are dealing with frizz. If your hair has split ends and is frizzy it is never going to be completely tamed because you need to cut off those split ends. If you don't cut off split ends they will continue to split all the way up your hair shaft. This will weaken your hair making it easier for your hair to frizz. I recommend getting a haircut every 12 weeks to keep split ends away. However if you have a shape you'd like to maintain I recommend every 6 to 8 weeks. Tip # 2 - Don't Wash Your Hair With Hot Water

Hot water dries out your scalp by removing natural oils which keeps your hair healthy and it dries out your hair making it overly porous. Washing your hair with hot water blows open your hair cuticle which makes your hair more fragile and doesn't allow your hair to lay flat. I love hot showers so I understand why this hard to avoid. I recommend starting your wash with warm water and finishing with a cold rinse to close your hair cuticle back down. Rinsing your hair after you condition with cold water will result in smoother styling results.

Tip # 3 - Use A Moisturizing Or Smoothing Shampoo And Conditioner

Prepping your hair for a frizz free style begins with your shampoo and conditioner.
