Every 2-4 days.
The main goal is not washing your hair every day. Over washing can result in extra oil in your hair. When you train your hair to be washed every day, your oil glands adjust to producing more oil to compensate for the loss of oils that your shampoo is stripping. If you have colored hair I recommend every 4 days. The less you wash your hair the longer your color will last. Keep in mind when you go longer in between washes there will be more build up. Make sure to do a thorough wash. Follow the two wash rule. The 1st wash is to cleanse out impurities and the 2nd wash is to actually get the benefits from your shampoo. If you have oily hair it will be harder to go 4 days. But I got you covered. Read on for tips on how to go longer between washes.
Pick The Right Shampoo.
Picking a shampoo that works best with your hair type is a must. If you're using a shampoo that is too heavy or over stripping your hair it is going to get greasy quicker. These are the shampoos I recommend for each hair type. All products recommended are Amika because they're my favorite! They are also all color safe. Shop shampoo.

Pick The Right Conditioner.
Picking a conditioner that works best with your hair type is also must. If you're using a conditioner that is too heavy it is going to weigh your hair down and make it greasy. These are the conditioners I recommend for each hair type. Shop conditioner.

Mix To Get More Than One Benefit.
Just because you use the volume shampoo doesn't mean you have to use the volume conditioner. Say you're a cool blonde who's looking to achieve more volume. You could do the volume shampoo with the cool blonde Conditioner.
Do Not Condition Your Roots.
You want to condition your mid-lengths and ends. Conditioner on your roots will weigh your hair down and make it greasy.
Prep Your Hair For Bed.
Do not go to bed with your hair wet. It doesn’t have to be the perfect blowout, just get it dry. Sleeping on wet hair holds a lot of moisture which get oily. Once dried Put your hair up with a scrunchie and wear a headband if you have bangs. This will keep your hair from getting oily from your skin. Using a scrunchie is important because it won’t put kinks in your hair. If you like volume put your hair up in a high ponytail. A high pony will also help protect your curls and prevents them from getting flat. Or do braids to achieve waves.
Dry Shampoo In The Evening.
Rather than applying in the morning apply at night before you go to bed. This will give it time to sink in and absorb all the oils. Plus you will wake up with volume and you won’t have to worry about white residue. My favorite is Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo. Shop dry shampoo.
Brush It.
Brushing helps distribute the oils from your roots down to your ends. This helps keeps your roots looking fresh and your ends from looking dry. Brush once in the morning and once before bed. Also keep your brush clean. Clean at least once a week. Dirty brush makes hair dirty.
Hairstyles & Accessories.
If you get your hair done by me you have definitely seen me wear a hat. That's my day 3 or 4 style. I love hats but i know they're not everyone's style. Other style ideas are headbands, messy buns, low ponys, braids, and claw clips. For hairstyle ideas and how tos head to my Pinterest.
I hope these tips help you go longer between washes. Remember the main goal is to not wash your hair everyday. So if you can't quite make it to every 4 days that's okay. Especially if you're used to washing everyday, it is going to take time to adjust. Let me know if any of these tips helped in the comments.
